What is Occupational Therapy

According to the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework:
Domain and Process, Fourth Edition (OTPF-4), occupational therapy is defined as follows:

“Occupational therapy (OT) is the client-centered practice that promotes health and well-being through engagement in occupation. Occupations are meaningful and purposeful activities that people engage in throughout their lives, which can include self-care, work, leisure, and social participation.”

OT emphasizes a holistic approach, considering the interplay between the individual’s abilities,
their environment, and the meaningful activities they wish to engage in.

The role of the occupational therapist in mental health:
